Description
The Keith Mcmillen K-Board and Modal Electronics CRAFTsynth Kit allows you to control the CRAFTsynth with the K-Board making them a perfect combination.
Kit Includes: #####Keith McMillen Instruments K-Board USB MIDI Controller Keyboard
#####Modal Electronics CRAFTsynth Monophonic Synthesizer Kit
The K-Board Keyboard Controller from Keith McMillen Instruments is a portable 25-key USB MIDI controller that can be customised to your individual workflow using the free, downloadable K-Board Editor. The K-Board allows for expressive control of software instruments, as well as MIDI sound modules connected to your computer. Tested to survive spills and tough falls, the K-Board is built to last. It's durability, ease of use, and expresiveness make it an ideal compact controller for everyone from the beginner musician to seasoned professional.
The K-Board's keys are designed to give the user comprehensive musical control. The controller detects both the tilt and the pressure being applied to each key as you play, both of which can be mapped to the MIDI parameter of your choosing. For example, key tilt can be mapped to the MIDI pitch bend parameter for applying vibrato to your performances by simply rocking the key back and forth. Also, each key is backlit by its own LED.
The K-Board connects to your computer's USB port allowing you to control your software instruments as well as any MIDI sound modules that are connected to your MIDI interface.

The easily assembled CRAFTsynth Monophonic Synthesiser Kit from Modal Electronics ships on five separate boards that snap together without tools or solder. Once assembled, the instrument features a 2-oscillator-per-voice architecture with a wide range of in-depth manipulations, such as detune and fine-detune for OSC2, as well as waveform selections including Sinae, SAW PWM, Noise, and FM (OSC2 modulating OSC1 pitch). Additionally, the Unison/Spread mode splits the oscillators into four separate sub oscillators per oscillator, virtually expanding your synth to a total of eight oscillators, which are also de-tunable for a massive sound.
The resonant low-pass filter can become state-variable when using the CRAFTapp—a free software editor and controller for iOS, OSX, Windows, and Android—that expands the functionality greatly and offers custom envelope generation, unlimited patch storage, and other enhancements. The CRAFTsynth offers 16 recallable EG presets and 16 preset storage locations for quick and easy recall of your favourite settings.
The on-board, invertible LFO features four waveforms including Sinae, Tri, Saw, and Square, which can be routed to six destinations (VCA amplitude, filter cutoff, FM amount, OSC mix, PWM amount, pitch/frequency). The LFO will auto-sync to MIDI clock if present. The instrument offers class-compliant MIDI over USB connection to a host computer or tablet. The playable touch panel interface features five note keys plus controls for scale and glide time. The touch-panel interface's keys are clearly labelled with its primary function, giving you the ability to change between scales and more. Delay and distortion effects are also included for adding harmonics and texture to your sound. A headphone and line output are included for direct monitoring as well as outputting the CRAFTsynth to speakers and other audio devices. The synthesiser itself is powered via a USB cable or an optional AA battery pack.
