Overview

Unlimited Audio Tracks, Unlimited MIDI Tracks, Unlimited Undo History

Description

Digital Performer 9 from MOTU is a digital audio workstation and MIDI sequencer well suited for songwriters, live performance, film and video soundtracks, audio post production, surround mixing, and other professional audio production tasks. The software records, edits, arranges, mixes, processes, and masters audio and MIDI tracks, while the single window streamlines production without having to dive through menus.

Available for Mac and Windows, DP9 delivers several new plug-ins and enhancements including the Masterworks FET-76 emulation of the classic 1176LN limiting amplifier, a spectral display that provides the spectral content of audio signals for each audio track side by side with their waveforms, and MusicXML export, which transfers QuickScribe notation to other programmes such as Finale and Sibelius.

Additional enhancements include dedicated automation lanes for any type of track, MIDI learn for plug-ins, muting MIDI notes with the Mute tool, floating plug-in windows, and support for Retina graphics. DP9 now ships with the MX4 synthesiser, which combines several types of synthesis and has many banks of presets including a dedicated bank for EDM sounds. The software also features MultiFuzz, an emulation of Craig Anderton's multi-band distortion QuadraFuzz and Megasynth, a polyphonic octave generation synthesiser that uses any input as an oscillator and offers flexible signal routing, envelopes, LFOs, a pattern generator, and macro controls.

Note: This is an academic version which is available to full-time students, academic institutions and religious organisations. Proof of status must be provided on registration.

Features

What's New in Version 9
  • MX4 MultiSynth: Now included with DP, MX4 is a powerful 64-bit virtual instrument plug-in featuring a hybrid synthesis engine that combines several forms of synthesis
  • Five New Plug-Ins:
  • MasterWorks FET-76 emulation of the classic 1176LN limiting amplifier (Revision D/E)
  • MultiFuzz model of Craig Anderton's seminal QuadraFuzz distortion kit from the 70's
  • MicroG and MicroB polyphonic octave generators for guitar and bass
  • MegaSynth subtractive synth processor
  • Automation Lanes in the Sequence Editor: Display audio and MIDI automation data (volume, pan, plug-in settings, etc.) in separate lanes below each track for easier viewing and editing
  • Spectrogram displays spectral content of each audio track, side by side with their waveforms, directly in the Sequence Editor timeline with a colourful, informative visual representation of the frequency content of your audio material.
  • Retina Display Support: View DP's carefully crafted UI themes like Carbon Fibre, Producer and all-new DP9 theme in stunning detail on the exceptionally high image resolution of your Mac's Retina display
  • MusicXML exports your DP QuickScribe notation scores as a MusicXML file, which can then be imported into popular music notation applications like Finale and Sibelius
  • Create Tracks Command: Add many tracks to your project in one step, even different types of tracks (MIDI, audio, aux, master faders, etc.) all at once
  • Floating plug-in windows keep plug-in windows in front of all other DP windows. Set the floating preference globally or choose to float on a per-window basis
  • MIDI Learn for Audio Plug-Ins: Map knobs, faders and switches on your MIDI controller to audio plug-in parameters
  • Mute MIDI Notes: Use the Mute Tool to temporarily silence both audio regions and MIDI notes, including multiple selected notes
  • Project Notes: Save text notes in your DP project, rather than a separate text document. Log production info, keep a To Do list, build up liner notes
  • Advanced Searching: Find Markers, Chunks and plug-in preferences faster with newly added search fields
5 New Plug-Ins
  • MX4 MultiSynth: MX4 is a powerful virtual instrument plug-in featuring a hybrid synthesis engine that combines several forms of synthesis, including subtractive, wavetable, frequency modulation (FM), amplitude modulation (AM) and analogue emulation
  • Signature EDM soundbank for MX4: Developed by synth guru Erik Norlander, this exciting new soundbank spans the EDM sound spectrum, from deep house to neo disco to electro swing
  • MegaSynth: Combines polyphonic octave generation with flexible signal routing, envelopes, LFOS, a pattern generator and macros. Input your guitar — or any signal to create a wide array of sounds
  • MicroG and MicroB: Similar to MegaSynth, MicroG and MicroB are subtractive synth processors based on popular “polyphonic octave generator” (POG) guitar processors. Each can generate octave, sub-octave and square wave tones based on the input signal, combined with a gain-triggered filter sweep
  • MultiFuzz: Reproduces the sound of Craig Anderton’s legendary QuadraFuzz multiband distortion kit from decades past. Tones range from sublime warmth to absolute filth
  • MasterWorks FET-76: The MasterWorks FET-76 models the classic 1176LN Limiting Amplifier (Revision D/E), which used FETs (Field Effect Transformers) to control audio gain reduction. FET-76 faithfully reproduces the original hardware's controls and quirks, including the ability to engage multiple ratio buttons — even "all buttons" mode
