Description
The Olympus HLD-8 Power Grip/Battery Holder is an optional dust- and splashproof battery holder and grip created especially for use with the Olympus E-M5 Mark II. The device can be separated into two parts -- one tailored to shooting in landscape orientation and one that's ideal for portraits.
The landscape unit includes a built-in shutter button as well as a dial for locking the grip onto the bottom of the E-M5 Mark II. The portrait unit includes a molded grip for stable shooting while the camera is in the vertical (portrait) orientation, a built-in shutter button, two built-in function buttons that can be programmed independently of the function buttons on the E-M5 Mark II body, a DC-IN jack for continuous powered shooting (requires the optional AC-3 Power Adapter), and a compartment for storing an optional additional BLN-1 lithium-ion battery. When shooting with the E-M5 Mark II and two batteries, you can choose which battery to use first; once it's drained, the camera will start using the second battery for uninterrupted shooting.

The HLD-8 Power Grip for the OM-D E-M5ii users is a "must have" if you want to shoot for longer periods of time, and want more comfort when shooting with telephotos, or in portrait angles. The HLD-8G Hand Grip is excellent when providing users a comfortable grip, or are wanting to have a serious video shooting experience. The headphone jack works well for most headphones, and gets beginning videographers an opportunity to listen to audio from the built-in mics, or an external microphone. The HLD-6P Battery Holder makes shooting portraits less awkward, and provides you the double life spam of 2 batteries, instead of one. The locking mechanism is great when you are shooting landscape positions without pressing and buttons or dials accidentally. Much like the E-M5ii buttons and dials, you can customize all buttons and dials for the battery grip. Both systems are weather-sealed, and you can store the small weather-seal connection doors within the grips. The only draw backs are that you'll have to remove the HLD-8G grip from the E-M5ii if the battery in camera runs out of juice, and the 2 protective ports for the HLD-8G grip and HLD-6P can be lost easily, so make sure they're kept in a small bag in a battery bag.Read more Read less
