The 10 HP Dreadbox Utopia BL is a multifunctional CV and audio manipulator module in Eurorack format. The module offers four attenuinverters, an offset generator, voltage controlled LFOs, a 4-to-3 channel mixer, which can also function as a buffered splitter, and a pulserizer effect, which converts a signal into a square wave for hard distortion effects. Most signals are normalised from the attenuverter for fast and easy control without excessive patching.
The attenuverter section can attenuate and invert signals simultaneously. Each of the four inputs has a dedicated knob. Moving clockwise from the 12 o'clock position to 6 o'clock, the circuit functions as an positive attenuator with the 6 o'clock position being at full level. Moving the knob to the left inverts the signal from 12 o'clock counterclockwise back to 6 o'clock, as well as negatively attenuates it. Below, the knobs operate their respective outputs for each of the four attenuverter inputs.
The mixer section is normalised from the output of the attenuverters, which allows multiple outputs for any one signal input. The four mixer inputs (ABCD) are summed and output to three outputs, which are essentially buffered multiples and designed to maintain the integrity of the signal with no degradation.
The buffered output signal also feeds the pulserizer effect, which includes an offset knob to control the pulsewidth of the converted square wave signal. The bottom right section of the module has a voltage-controlled LFO. Channel four of the attenuverter controls the depth of the LFO, which not only feeds the pulserizer, but also can be mixed into the signal output when mixing and processing CV signals.
The attenuverter 3 knob functions as an offset generator for mixed CV signals. The Utopia has a depth of 0.9" and ships with a power ribbon cable.
