The LM16 from Fostex is a digital audio mixer with analog inputs and outputs that offers many options to accommodate various live sound situations. The system operates just like an analog mixer, so there is no "digital mixer" learning curve involved. What makes the LM16 different is its ability to have the mixer control surface detach from the input and output box, connected by a standard Cat-5 Ethernet cable for distances of up to 164 feet (50 meters).
Having a modular mixing console makes it possible to put the input and output box on the stage, and set up the mixer control surface where ever you need it. This is just one example of what this unique feature makes possible. Because you only need a lightweight Ethernet cable to connect the two components, it eliminates the need to have an expensive and heavy analog snake cable in your system. When you don't need the LM16 to be modular, two units can be attached to one another, and mounted in a standard 19 inch rack (mounting hardware included).
The LM16 is a full-featured mixer with 16 combo XLR/TRS inputs, 4 sub groups, two master outputs, and three aux sends. It can provide +48V of phantom power to every input, and also features a built-in effects section with reverb and delay. Every channel features an analog limiter that you can individually engage or disengage. There is also a 3-band EQ on every channel with a mid sweep. You digitally control the trim of each input from the mixer control surface.
