Description

The Blackmagic Media Player is a versatile solution for Thunderbolt computers that is specifically designed for playout to live production switchers or large broadcast systems. In addition to video in and out capabilities, it also provides 10G Ethernet connectivity and power to your computer. The device features dual 12G-SDI outputs for fill and key playback, 12G-SDI capture, and 10G Ethernet for accessing network storage and laptop power using a single Thunderbolt connection. Additionally, there is an independent Thunderbolt connection on the front panel for convenient laptop connectivity. The Blackmagic Media Player supports full DeckLink API features, ensuring compatibility with most video software.

One of the standout features of DaVinci Resolve 19 is its new and exciting media player, editing, and replay capabilities. The software is capable of handling various video file formats, allowing you to easily play any files provided by your clients. For broadcast graphics, DaVinci Resolve 19 supports video files with an alpha channel, which can be output as a 10-bit SDI fill and key. The new multi-source viewer enables visual media browsing, displaying any clips that match in time in a multiview. Additionally, the "on air" controls allow for easy playout automation, including the activation of the downstream keyer in a switcher with a single button. DaVinci Resolve 19 even offers automatic stinger addition, making it an ideal solution for news and replay purposes.

The Blackmagic Media Player includes all the necessary features for broadcast playback. It can be placed on the desktop or mounted in a rack using a Blackmagic Universal Rack Shelf. The front panel features an LCD display that provides status information about video, audio meters, input, video standard, and the depth of the record/playback frame buffer. The audio meter can be switched between VU and PPM modes. Additionally, the device is equipped with a headphone socket, speaker, and a speaker enable button. To lock the speaker on, a double press of the speaker enable button is all that's needed. When mounted in a control room, the front Thunderbolt connection allows for easy laptop connectivity directly to the front of the rack.
