Discover new dimensions in your tone with the Electro-Harmonix Pico Atomic Cluster Spectral Decomposer, a distinctive compact glitch and synth pedal from Electro-Harmonix. This innovative effect pedal deconstructs your instrument’s signal and reshapes it into an assortment of musical and whimsical textures. Utilizing a specialized algorithm to reduce the frequency resolution of your input, it produces an extraordinary range of effects, from dynamic lo-fi glitches and auto-arpeggiated patterns to lush ambient synth pads and much more.
Main Controls
The Atomic Cluster features two primary controls: the ATOMS and SPEED knobs. The ATOMS knob sets the number of simultaneous resonant oscillation sounds generated at any given time. When turned up, you’ll hear a fuller spectrum that more closely resembles your original signal, and as you decrease the control, the oscillations are reduced, resulting in a more pixelated and glitch-infused character. The SPEED knob determines how quickly the pedal updates or “refreshes” these oscillations, placing the timing and feel of the effect in your hands. Lower SPEED settings can evoke a rhythmic step filter vibe, while higher settings introduce an unpredictable, chaotic flair. The SPEED parameter can also be set via tap tempo for on-the-fly performance flexibility. Additional VOL and BLEND controls let you fine-tune the overall output level and the balance between your dry and effected signals.
SHARP and SMOOTH Modes
Toggle between SHARP and SMOOTH modes using the MODE button to fine-tune how the oscillation transitions behave. SHARP delivers abrupt, instantaneous changes between oscillations, resulting in a punchy, rhythmic sound. In contrast, SMOOTH mode gradually crossfades each new oscillation, yielding a rich and immersive ambient character as transitions blend seamlessly.
