Updating the highly influential dynamics processor in the realm of music, Eventide presents the Eventide Omnipressor 2830AU Compressor and Expander. This rack-mountable unit offers users flexible functionality, seamlessly transitioning from compression and limiting to expansion and gating with ease. The uniqueness of the Omnipressor 2830AU lies in its unconventional dynamics features, such as the dynamic reversal. This groundbreaking feature reverses transient peaks and troughs, simulating a tape reversal sound.
Introduced in 1976, the original Omnipressor was the pioneer in introducing the concept of side-chaining. The reissue stays true to its legacy, featuring both transformer-balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4" side-chain I/O. Additionally, it provides line I/O and link connections for optional stereo processing. The meter includes a three-way switch, enabling users to choose between input, output, or gain monitoring. The mix control allows for parallel compression engagement. Other notable features include a relay-bypass switch, input and output level control, gain, attenuation, and threshold control, and much more. When linked, users can operate in three modes: Stereo Mode for typical stereo dynamics processing, Master Mode for controlling a chain of units using one master unit, and VCA Mode for transforming the Omnipressor into a high-quality voltage-controlled amplifier.
