The Mackie DL16S: A Budget-Friendly Wireless Digital Mixer
The Mackie DL16S 16-Channel Wireless Digital Live Sound Mixer with Built-In Wi-Fi is a versatile wireless digital live sound mixer designed for musicians, engineers, and various venues such as clubs, bars, and coffee shops. Equipped with 16 Onyx+ recallable preamps, this mixer delivers exceptional sound quality. With the DL16S, you can take advantage of sophisticated signal processing options. Each of the 16 input channels offers a 4-band PEQ, HPF, gate, compression, as well as an RTA/spectrograph. For the output busses, there are 13 available, each with a 4-band PEQ, HPF/LPF, a 31-band GEQ, compressor/limiter, alignment delay, and RTA/spectrograph. Furthermore, the DL16S provides six VCAs, six mute groups, and four stereo FX processors, delivering high-quality reverb, delay, chorus, flange, and more.
Built with durability in mind, the Mackie DL16S features a sturdy steel construction and large rubber corners, ensuring it can withstand the rigors of on-the-road use. It also offers easy portability with its integrated handle. The built-in Wi-Fi antenna allows for seamless wireless control, and for extended range, the DL16S can be connected directly to a wireless router or network switch via the Ethernet connector.
To control the DL16S, Mackie provides the Master Fader control app, compatible with iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows devices (requires Master Fader 5.1). The app offers intuitive navigation with overview and view groups, simplifying the setup process with factory and user presets. Users can also recall Onyx+ mic preamp settings. With support for up to 20 devices, musicians can create their own personalized headphone mix while the Access Limiting setting ensures that only the FOH engineer can make adjustments.
Additionally, the Mackie DL16S includes a built-in 16x16 USB 2.0 audio interface, allowing for convenient recording and later mixdown.
