This ultra-wide-angle lens, designed exclusively for use with Nikon’s DX-format, provides a versatile wide-angle zoom perspective.
The Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED is designed specifically for use with Nikon DX format digital SLR cameras. It features ultra-wideangle zoom capability, ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass and Nikon's exclusive built-in SWM (Silent Wave Motor). The lens is targeted at professional and advanced amateur Nikon D-SLR users who demand both the advantages of high optical performance and ultra-wideangle focal range. This G-type Nikkor lens is designed with no aperture rings, and offers easier, virtually mistake-free operation because the aperture does not need to be set to minimum.
Key Features:
- Design enables a combination of wider angle-of-view with optical characteristics that are optimized for Nikon digital SLR camera sensors.
- Nikon’s design produces a smaller image circle (the size of the image that is projected by the lens on to the sensor) enabling smaller lens diameter and optimal image quality from center-to-edge-to-corner on the image.
- 2 Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements for minimized chromatic aberration.
- Internal Focusing (IF) design for smoother focusing and great body balance.
- Nikon D-type design provides precise distance information for flash and ambient light exposure processes.
- DX Nikkor is designed exclusively for use with Nikon digital SLR models.
- 2x zoom ratio and variable angle-of-view from 99 degrees at 12mm to 61 degrees at 24mm, comparable to that of an 18-36mm lens on 35mm size sensor format.
- Exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) enables ultra-high-speed auto focusing with exceptional accuracy and powerful super-quiet operation.
- 3 aspherical lens elements for low distortion.
- Manual/Auto mode enables instant switching from auto focus to manual with virtually no time lag even during AF servo operation.
- Rounded diaphragm to make out-of-focus elements appear more natural.
- 11.8 close focusing distance throughout zoom range.
Note:
- Equivalent focal length in 35mm terms is 18-36mm.
- Some older AF cameras are not fully compatible with the AF-S function. With these models, AF-S lenses will have to be focused manually. Incompatible models are: N60, N55, N8008/s, N6006, N5005, N4004 & N2020.
- DX lenses are NOT recommended for use with 35mm, "full-frame" digital, or APS SLR cameras. These lenses can be attached to film-based 35mm SLRs, but will not work properly due to the reduced size of the image circle.
