With the introduction of the newly developed highlight diffusion filter (HDF), the Ricoh GR III HDF Digital Camera grants users an enhanced level of control over the aesthetic of their photographs while maintaining optimum image quality. Photographs taken with the HDF enabled possess a discernible softness and a heightened emphasis on highlights, resulting in a nostalgic appearance reminiscent of classical film photography or vintage movies. By default, the Fn button activates or deactivates the HDF function. Additionally, this model distinguishes itself from its predecessors in the GR series with the inclusion of a dark silver shutter-release button. Lastly, the new firmware permits the pre-programming of up to three base white-balance settings, as well as the implementation of Zone Select AF.
