Still best in class when it comes to close-working broadcast vocals; whether spoken or sung. Beautiful flat response with a warm bottom end. The included oversized 'pop sock' is so good you don't need to buy a separate shield. Also perfect for close-miking instruments if you are so inclined. Works best with a Cloud signal lifter.Read more Read less

As a university lecturer specialising in online teaching, I provide content that is pre-recorded or online synchronous. I have a reasonably captive audience, students are supposed to attend the lectures - but can decide to not attend. My voice is probably about 20% of my product. The quality of my performance influences attendance. So it is worth investing in good sound. I did wonder about the MV7-X, but would always be wondering if I should have got the SM7B. It costs twice as much, and I am glad I did go for the SM7B. It is an incredible microphone! I use this for what I call calm voice teaching, where I need to slow things down and deal with something a bit complex. That flat and wide response and the quality of this microphone really helps here, and a few days of fine-tuning with the pre-amp (RodeStreamer X) really paid off.
