The Sigma 35mm T1.5 FF High-Speed Prime (EF Mount, Feet) delivers cine-ready performance by adapting the acclaimed optics and mechanics of their Global Vision still photography line into a design tailored for filmmakers. The 35mm Canon EF prime stands out as a mid-range focal length choice, providing comprehensive full-frame sensor coverage, supporting resolutions from 6K to 8K, and offering a wide T1.5 maximum aperture—all within a compact, lightweight build. Electronic contacts in the lens mount enable communication of crucial lens data directly to the camera. Designed with consistency in mind, all lenses in this series feature a uniform 95mm front diameter and other shared physical characteristics, streamlining the attachment of matte boxes, follow focus units, and lens control motors.
Optical Performance and Build
The lens employs a 9-blade iris for wonderfully smooth and attractive bokeh, while ghosting and flaring are minimized for cleaner image quality. Colour rendition remains consistent across the range, simplifying colour matching and correction in post-production. All FF High Speed Primes feature standardized gear positions and provide 180° of focus barrel rotation for precise manual focus pulls.
Professional Design Features
Each lens includes a clickless iris ring with linear markings for smooth aperture adjustments, integrated dampeners on each gear ring for nearly silent operation, and durable, engraved scale markings. The lenses use an industry-standard 0.8 module gear pitch for compatibility with professional follow focus and motor units. Focus distances are marked in feet, with selected luminous markings for greater visibility in dim environments.
Robust Construction and Flexibility
A built-in support foot helps relieve stress on your camera’s lens mount, while the dust- and water-resistant metal construction ensures dependable operation in various shooting scenarios. Should you need to change lens mounts, Canon EF and Sony E versions can be converted between the two by an authorized Sigma service center (PL mounts are not convertible).
