The SmallRig 4183B Cage for Sony FX30, FX3, and FX3A is expertly crafted to both protect your camera and offer extensive accessory mounting options. This modular system comprises a top NATO rail and a U-shaped cage for comprehensive coverage. The NATO rail fastens securely on top with two 1/4"-20 screws and can be detached to accommodate the original XLR top handle. The U-shaped cage is fixed using 1/4"-20 screws on each side and the bottom, ensuring a stable, twist-free fit while a built-in cushion safeguards your camera from scratches. To enhance grip and comfort, especially for the little finger, a hinge arm by the battery door matches the camera’s curve. Additionally, a dedicated HDMI cable clamp protects the camera’s interface for reliable signal transmission.
Accessory Mounting Options
The cage provides various mounting points for flexibility. Standard 1/4"-20 threaded holes allow attachment of accessories like the Magic Arm 2070. ARRI 3/8"-16 locating holes are available for connecting a Top Handle 2165C or Monitor Mount 2903B. The top NATO rail supports Top Handle 3322, while the left side features an attachment point for Side Handle 2187B. Rod Clamp 3598 can be mounted using 1/4"-20 locating holes positioned at the top left and side, making it easy to add a follow focus setup. Two 1/4"-20 holes on the right facilitate secure mounting on a quick release plate for vertical shooting arrangements. The cold shoe mount is ideal for adding a microphone or LED light, and a QD port at the bottom is ready for a QD strap.
Quick Release Compatibility and Additional Features
At the bottom, an Arca-Swiss quick release plate enables direct connection to DJI RS 2, RSC 2, RS 3, or RS 3 Pro gimbals; it also supports a quick release plate (with height increase pad) for DJI RS 2/RSC 2 and the Arca-Type Quick Release Plate 3154. Both sides and the bottom of the cage feature attachment points for the Hand Strap 3848 and Shoulder Strap PSC2428, offering carrying flexibility. For added convenience, a magnetic spanner is built in, making assembly and disassembly swift and easy.

- Make sure to remove the top NATO rail before installing the original XLR handle.
- The top 1/4"-20 threaded holes are spaced 27mm apart, which is incompatible with accessories—like Monitor Mount 2904—that require an 18mm hole center distance.
