The versatile SoundTools Cat Box MX Four Male XLR Stage Box with Main and Parallel EtherCON Connectors enables the transmission of four distinct types of signals, including balanced analogue audio, AES/EBU, DMX, and Clear-Com, down a shielded Cat 5/6/7 cable over significant distances. A completely passive device, the CAT Box can serve as an input source directly into analogue or digital consoles.
Featuring isolated channels, this allows for simultaneous transmission of different types of signals, such as DMX and balanced analogue audio, over the same Cat 5 cable through individual channels. It is possible to connect multiple CAT Boxes via daisy-chaining, providing the capability to drop the same four analogue channels in different locations. Equipped with an Ethercon input and parallel output, the CAT Box can function as a hard-wire split.
For extending the system, the CAT Box extension system includes a male XLR sender and female XLR receiver (each sold separately). With this system, it is feasible to send four XLR audio signals through a Cat 5/6/7 cable, covering extensive distances, and convert them back to balanced analogue audio, AES/EBU, DMX, and Clear-Com signals efficiently.
